====Text Panel====

**Text Panels** are the standard way of looking at the [[live data dashboard|live]] value of an [[discrete channels|discrete]] [[channels|channel]] in a dashboard [[panels|panel]].

The panel displays the current value (as text rather than as a number) of one or more discrete channels.

If you've configured colours for each of your lookup values in ARDI, the background of the panel will automatically change to that colour, making it easy to determine the status at-a-glance.

This chart will update dynamically as new data arrives. It will instantly transition between the old and new value. 

===Interactions===

**Left-click** on the background to open the [[channel navigation menu|navigation menu]] for that channel. 

This allows you to follow that channel to the asset it belongs to, trend it over time, compare it to other points of data, or view other values like it across your system.

**Right-click** on the background to open the [[edit menu|editing menu]] for that channel. This will allow you to change the type of the chart, as well as moving the channel to a different panels.
