World Maps with Data

Overall

You can use a number of mapping services – such as OpenStreetMap and Google Maps – to create interactive visualisations of not only where key assets are, but their live status.

You can any measurements on these maps, including…

• Location,
• Speed,
• Reception/coverage,
• Fuel and/or Battery Level,
• Status,
• Weight and Load

Example

In this example we have several mobile phone towers. For each, we show both the coverage range (the radius of the circles) and the current amount of traffic on each of those towers, as a percentage of maximum capacity.

Although these are fixed pieces of equipment, you can also track items that move.
