ARDI is not a historian. Although we do have a database for storing our own configuration, ARDI is designed to fit into your existing knowledge infrastructure – using the live and historical data sources you’ve already got on-site.
But since ARDI is designed to be suitable for a wide range of different applications, we do occasionally find that we have customers who don’t have any time-series data recording.
For those customers, the Prometheus addon provides an easy way of recording the values you’re gathering in ARDI into an open-source, efficient time-series database. This creates a system where data flows both ways between ARDI and Prometheus – ARDIs live data is pushed out to be recorded, and requests for historical data are pulled out from Prometheus.
So while ARDI itself isn’t a historian, we can provide recording functions for smaller, simpler applications.
