Position Summary

Optrix are seeking an engineering or technical based practical person who can support and assist others to develop applications using ARDI.

To clarify, this role has nothing to do with creating ‘apps’ on mobile devices. This role is focused on ‘applications’ in terms of applying software products to deliver solutions.

The person must demonstrate a solid capability in applying real time data to deliver operational understanding of industrial data and plant operations.

The candidate should have experience with the technology used in automation systems, such as automation controls, historians, SCADA systems and other IIOT components They will be experienced with control system data interfaces such as OPC (UA or DA).

The person must be able to review customer objectives, and understand what data is needed and how it will be visualised to achieve these objectives.

Role

This is a creative role offering the opportunity to work with a wide range of customers on practical, data-driven solutions to real-world problems.

Application engineers assist our marketing strategies, assist teams deliver solutions, provide end-user training and technical support for our suite of software.

As an application engineer you will develop skills (or have skills or be involved with) in;

  • Design general system architectures and deploy ARDI, including setting up connections to real time data.
  • Build demonstrations to support marketing needs.
  • Configure trial and example applications for customers and internal use.
  • Be able to respond to customer or partner enquiries on how to use ARDI for their applications.
  • Be involved in projects, providing hands on deployment skills.
  • Support technical training.
  • Perform testing and provide feedback to developers.

Expected Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in an engineering or computer science discipline, or extensive hands-on experience in an Operations Technology role.
  • Minimum five years experience working in the industrial automation market.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Python and reporting products will be needed, but training can be provided.
  • Exposure to AI, modelling and simulation tools are also advantageous for this role.

Location

    The successful candidate would need to reside in Australia and effectively travel to our office in Shellharbour as required. If not close to our office, we would prefer that the candidate resides on the east coast of Australia, ideally within commuting distance of a capital city.
